Abstract

The Department of Chemical Sciences and Technologies (DSTC) of the
University of Rome Tor Vergata contributes to Flagship Project 1 of Rome
Technopole through the Carbon Sequestration and Utilization (CSU) approach, developing three parallel synthetic strategies for converting CO2
into high-value fine chemicals: cycloaddition to epoxides and aziridines, and
methylation of amines via CO2/H2 mixtures, yielding cyclic carbonates, oxazolidinones and methylamines for industrial, pharmaceutical and synthetic applications. The research progresses from batch to continuous-flow synthesis, using fixed-bed reactors and supercritical CO2 to improve scalability, energy efficiency and selectivity, supported by state-of-the-art instrumentation available through the X-CHEM Department of Excellence programme..
